explain why it is important that a care home maintains its records for recipt of medication?

it is about medications in a nursing home i need the answers for a course
Answer:
All medication needs to be inventoried and accounted for. Not only is the cost important for budget control but also they want to know that no outside medication is making it in without their knowledge. Tight control of medication is necessary to make sure the patients only are taking what the doctor ordered.
Here are a few reasons :-When granny pops off and the relatives start asking difficult questions, records are the only way to prove it wasn't you that over did the morphine ...Same when the local Police call in to find out who's been selling the stuff in the Pub across the road ...And (of course) when the NHS Auditors drop by to ask where all the monies gone ...
