effects of food additives on health?

Answer:
Your question is too vague. Some additives are useful like vitamins in flour. Neutral ones include bulking or thickening agents like guar gum which are OK if you don't eat too much. Sometimes they can have bad effects like cancer risk and hyperactivity with some synthetic dyes.
Most additives are just that. Why are they there? I believe that most health problems in humans are caused by additives and processes to foods that are by and large completely unneccesary. For instance, why do we add sugar to cereal? The answer is to make it tast better so that future generations of humans will continue to purchase it. What it does to us is irrelevant to the manufacturers as they are worried about sales. There are many health related food studies to choose from but the bottom line is that natural food are better for you. Become a label reader. Watch for natural or organic foods and buy them to try. We even purchase organic beef, chicken, lamb, and fish for our meals, we use organic potatoes and vegetables. Once you find brands and foods you like it will become very difficult for you to go back to foods with additives. The flavor in organic foods is amazing. The quality is much better! Try it.
